Never Again

from workingfilms.org:

We watched horrified, but not surprised when white supremacists attacked the United States capitol building. We are headquartered in Wilmington NC, where after the violent removal of indigenous people, during the period of reconstruction, a white supremacist mob overthrew the city's legitimately elected bi-racial government in 1898. While we are relieved by the peaceful transition of presidential power that took place this week, there is much work to do to make sure that racist threats to democracy never succeed again. We have joined with residents and allied organizations to petition all of our locally elected officials and law enforcement agencies to condemn the January 6th attempt to disrupt democracy. In response, after receiving hundreds of signatures, The City of Wilmington did so at their January 19th council meeting. Other leaders have not. If you live in the area, and would like to sign on to this ask, you can do so here.
